So, it was even more special when their massive hit song "Golden" from the Netflix movie took home the Best Song Written For Visual Media award during the ceremony hosted by Trevor Noah.

The track—which was also nominated for Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media—has seen huge success since Kpop Demon Hunters first hit Netflix in June. The song has also picked up a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award and is nominated for Best Original Song at the 2026 Oscars, taking place March 15.

And EJAE (real name Kim Eun-jae) had an inkling the music would be a hit as soon as the idea came to her while she was headed to the dentist.

“I was on my way to get a gold filling,” the 34-year-old told The Music in October. “Isn’t that insane? It was all meant to be.”

Once the melody was set in her mind, she rushed home and logged into a Zoom session with fellow songwriter Mark Sonnenblick.

“Obviously, there's fine-tuning,” EJAE explained. “There was a lot of back and forth, but the main hook idea, we got really quickly.”

“When we were done with that we were like, ‘Wait.’ Literally, Mark and I on Zoom and we're like, ‘Did we just write a hit?’” she recalled. “It sounded so good.”

And the rest is music history.
